Reverse Text Generator

Write it forwards, get it backwards. Reverse the order of your characters, or flip the whole thing upside down, and paste the result anywhere.

Quick answer: This tool reverses the order of your characters (so "hello" becomes "olleh") and also offers a 180-degree upside-down flip. Both outputs are ordinary text and paste into any social platform, chat or document.

Backwards Text, Mirror Writing and Puzzles

Reversed text has a long history, Leonardo da Vinci filled notebooks with mirror writing, and puzzle-makers have used backwards words forever. Online it works as a hook ("read this twice"), a spoiler-softener for plot details, and a playful bio signature.

Note that reversing changes character order, not the letterforms themselves, "b" does not become "d". For the visual mirror effect, combine it with the upside-down flip shown as the second output, which substitutes rotated letterforms as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does reversed text keep emoji intact?
Yes. The generator reverses by full character, not by byte, so emoji and styled Unicode letters survive the flip instead of breaking into corrupted symbols.
What is the difference between reverse and upside down?
Reverse only changes the order of characters, reading right to left. Upside down also swaps each letter for a rotated look-alike, so the text appears physically flipped 180 degrees. The generator shows both, copy whichever effect you want.
How does the reverse text generator generator work?
It does not use fonts or images. Every ordinary letter is swapped for a Unicode character that already looks reverse text. Because the output is real text, it survives copy-paste into any app and renders the same for everyone.
Are there downsides to styled Unicode text?
Use it for accents, not whole posts. Styled characters are not indexed by platform search, and some screen readers spell them out awkwardly. A bold phrase or a styled headline works great, full styled paragraphs hurt readability.
Is this tool free?
Yes, completely free, no sign-up and no limits. The Post Formatter Chrome extension, which applies the same styles directly inside LinkedIn, X and Facebook, is also free.
