Fraktur Font Generator

Turn plain text into gothic blackletter, the centuries-old Fraktur style in regular and bold, ready to paste into usernames, posts and headers.

Quick answer: Fraktur is the blackletter script of early European printing. Unicode includes both a regular (π”‰π”―π”žπ”¨π”±π”²π”―) and bold (π•±π–—π–†π–π–™π–šπ–—) Fraktur alphabet, and this generator converts your text into either, as real characters that paste anywhere.

A 500-Year-Old Font in Your Bio

Fraktur dominated German-language printing from the 1500s until the twentieth century, and its dense, angular letterforms still signal "historic weight" like nothing else. Today it lives on in newspaper mastheads, band logos and streetwear, and in Unicode, where mathematicians got both weights encoded as symbol alphabets.

Legibility is the trade-off: capital letters like β„‘ (I) and ℨ (Z) are genuinely hard to read out of context. Use Fraktur for single words where the shape is the message, a name, a title, a drop date, rather than sentences.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the gothic font called?
The family is blackletter, Fraktur is its most famous style, alongside Textura and Schwabacher. Unicode encodes Fraktur specifically, which is what this generator produces in regular and bold.
Why do some capitals look strange?
A few Fraktur capitals (C, H, I, R, Z) were encoded earlier in Unicode’s Letterlike Symbols block, and their designs differ slightly from the rest of the alphabet. The generator uses the correct codepoints, the mismatch is part of the standard itself.
How does the Fraktur font generator generator work?
It does not use fonts or images. Every ordinary letter is swapped for a Unicode character that already looks Fraktur font. Because the output is real text, it survives copy-paste into any app and renders the same for everyone.
Are there downsides to styled Unicode text?
Use it for accents, not whole posts. Styled characters are not indexed by platform search, and some screen readers spell them out awkwardly. A bold phrase or a styled headline works great, full styled paragraphs hurt readability.
Is this tool free?
Yes, completely free, no sign-up and no limits. The Post Formatter Chrome extension, which applies the same styles directly inside LinkedIn, X and Facebook, is also free.
