# Post Formatter > Post Formatter is a free Chrome extension and suite of online tools that lets you add bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, and 30+ Unicode text styles to LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, and Pinterest. Because the formatting uses real Unicode characters (Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block), styled text renders correctly everywhere: no HTML, no images, no special rendering. The extension adds a floating toolbar inside supported social-media editors. It also bundles a live post preview for every supported platform, Smart Paste (preserves formatting from Google Docs, Word, Notion), AI proofread and AI auto-styling (bring-your-own OpenRouter key), drafts with folders and tags, a multi-platform character counter, and keyboard shortcuts. The website also hosts free online utilities that work without installing anything: text formatters for LinkedIn, Facebook, X (Twitter) and Threads, a LinkedIn font generator, a LinkedIn character counter, a LinkedIn video downloader, a LinkedIn banner maker (1584×396), a LinkedIn carousel maker (PDF export), a family of single-style text generators (bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, cursive, small caps, bubble, square, Fraktur, double-struck, monospace, wide, reverse, upside down, Zalgo), step-by-step how-to guides, honest comparisons with AuthoredUp, PerfectPost, Typegrow and YayText, and a blog covering post analytics and formatting across the supported platforms. The blog covers getting posts read across every platform the extension supports (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads and more): how post analytics work, what formatting changes, and where the numbers mislead. It is written and bylined by Artyom Shimanski, founder of Post Formatter (https://www.linkedin.com/in/artyom-shimanski/, https://shimanski.dev/). Index at https://postformatter.com/blog/, RSS at https://postformatter.com/blog/rss.xml This file inlines the full English content of every core page so it can be ingested in one fetch. The link index lives at https://postformatter.com/llms.txt ## Key facts - Supported platforms: LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, Pinterest. - Supported browsers: Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium browsers. - LinkedIn character limits (2026): posts 3,000 characters, "see more" cutoff around 210 characters on desktop, headline 220, about section 2,600, comments 1,250, connection request notes 300, articles 110,000. The free LinkedIn Character Counter at https://postformatter.com/linkedin-character-counter/ tracks all of these in real time. - LinkedIn banner size (2026): 1584×396 pixels (4:1 aspect ratio), recommended under 8 MB, PNG or JPG. Carousels are uploaded as PDF document posts, up to 300 pages and 100 MB. - LinkedIn video limits: 3 seconds to 10 minutes, up to 5 GB, resolution between 256×144 and 4096×2304, MP4 recommended. - Other platform character limits: X/Twitter 280 (weighted; styled Unicode letters usually count as two characters each), Threads 500, Facebook 63,206 (feed shows roughly the first 477 characters before "See more"), Bluesky 300. - Privacy: Your post text is formatted locally in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers. The website uses standard web analytics (Google Analytics, Ahrefs). - Styles: 30+ Unicode styles including bold, italic, bold italic, strikethrough, underline, monospace, script, fraktur, double-struck, small caps, bubble text, square text, full width, superscript, subscript, wide text. - AI features: Optional AI proofread and AI auto-style are a Pro feature. LinkedIn counts one when at least 50 percent of the content is on screen for 300 milliseconds or more, or when it is clicked. Impressions include repeat views by the same person and include the author's own views; "members reached" is the deduplicated count of distinct members and Pages. LinkedIn describes both figures as estimates. Full explanation at https://postformatter.com/blog/what-are-impressions-on-linkedin/ - LinkedIn analytics retention: discovery and engagement data 1,000 days, members reached 400 days, video analytics 365 days, demographic breakdown 180 days, article analytics 2 years. ## Home: LinkedIn Post Formatter Chrome Extension https://postformatter.com/ Overview of the Post Formatter Chrome extension: a LinkedIn post formatter that adds bold, italic, strikethrough and 30+ Unicode font styles right inside the editor, and also works on X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube and Pinterest. Your text is instantly converted to Unicode bold characters that display as bold on LinkedIn, no special rendering needed. ### What font styles are available for LinkedIn? Post Formatter offers 30+ Unicode font styles: bold, italic, bold italic, strikethrough, underline, monospace, script, fraktur, double-struck, small caps, bubble text, square text, full width, superscript, subscript, wide text, and more. Post Formatter works on LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, and Pinterest. The inline formatting widget appears on any supported platform when you select text. ### Can I paste formatted text from Google Docs into LinkedIn? Yes. Post Formatter includes Smart Paste, which auto-converts bold, italic, strikethrough, underline, and lists from Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or Notion into Unicode equivalents when you paste into LinkedIn or any supported platform. ### Does Post Formatter work on Edge and Brave? Yes. Post Formatter is a Chromium-based extension, so it works on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. Install it from the Chrome Web Store in any of these browsers. ### How does the AI proofreader work? Post Formatter Pro includes AI Proofread and AI Auto-Styling. You add your own OpenRouter API key in settings, pick any model OpenRouter supports, and the extension sends your text for grammar, spelling, and style suggestions. Edits are shown inline over your text so you can accept or reject each change. AI Auto-Styling takes plain text and automatically applies bold, italic, or bold italic to the phrases worth emphasizing. ### Do I need to pay for AI features? AI proofreading and auto-styling are part of Post Formatter Pro, with a few free trials so you can try them first. AI runs on your own OpenRouter API key, so model usage is billed to your OpenRouter account at cost; Pro unlocks the feature along with the rest of the premium toolkit (30+ styles, multi-platform post preview, and Pro drafts). ### Can I use Post Formatter in Chrome's side panel? Yes. The extension opens in Chrome's side panel as a full-height editor with drafts, symbols, styles, and character limit tracking, useful for writing longer posts side-by-side with LinkedIn, X, or any other site. ## LinkedIn Text Formatter https://postformatter.com/linkedin-text-formatter/ Free online LinkedIn text formatter and bold text generator with a live LinkedIn post preview. Format posts with bold, italic, underline, and 8+ Unicode font styles; no sign-up, no download. How to use the LinkedIn Text Formatter: 1. Type or paste: enter the text you want to format into the editor. 2. Select text: highlight the words you want to style, or leave unselected to format all. 3. Pick a style: click Bold, Italic, Underline, or choose from the font dropdown. 4. Copy & paste: click Copy, then paste into your LinkedIn post. The live LinkedIn preview updates in real time. The formatter uses Unicode characters from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block: real text, not images or HTML, so it displays correctly on every device and platform. Available styles (8 in the online tool; the Chrome extension adds 25+ more): Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Strikethrough, Underline, Monospace, Script, Small Caps. Why format LinkedIn posts: bold headlines catch the eye in the feed, visual hierarchy makes posts scannable, formatted posts draw more likes, comments and shares, and clean formatting signals attention to detail. Caveats: LinkedIn search cannot index Unicode-styled words (keep hashtags plain), screen readers may not read Unicode text correctly, and some characters may look slightly different on older devices. ### How do I format text on LinkedIn? LinkedIn doesn't have built-in formatting buttons for regular posts. To add bold, italic, or underline text, use the LinkedIn Text Formatter: type your text, select it, click a style button, then copy and paste into LinkedIn. The formatted text uses Unicode characters that display correctly for all readers on any device. ### How does LinkedIn text formatting work? The formatter converts regular ASCII letters into Unicode characters from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. For example, the letter 'a' becomes '𝗮' (U+1D5EE) for bold sans-serif. Since these are real Unicode characters, not HTML or CSS styling, they display correctly on LinkedIn and every other platform. ### Is this LinkedIn text formatter free? Yes, the online LinkedIn Text Formatter is entirely free with no registration and no usage limits. The Post Formatter Chrome extension is free to install with a free core (bold, italic, bold italic, strikethrough, underline & case); optional Pro features add AI proofreading, 30+ premium styles and Drafts Pro. ### Does bold text work on LinkedIn mobile? Yes. Unicode formatted text displays correctly on LinkedIn's mobile app, desktop app, and web version. The characters are real Unicode text, not images or special rendering, so they work on any device and operating system. ### Can I use this for X (Twitter), Facebook, and other platforms? Yes. Unicode text formatting works on LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube comments, Pinterest, Instagram bios, and anywhere that supports text. The Post Formatter Chrome extension also works inline on all 7 supported platforms. ### What font styles are supported? The online formatter supports 8 styles: Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Strikethrough, Underline, Monospace, Script, and Small Caps. The Chrome extension adds 25+ more including Fraktur, Double-Struck, Bubble Text, Square Text, Full Width, and Flag styles, 30+ total. ### Are there limitations to Unicode text formatting? Unicode formatted text has a few limitations: (1) It is not searchable, LinkedIn search cannot index Unicode-styled words. (2) Screen readers may not read Unicode text correctly, which reduces accessibility. (3) Some characters may look different on older devices. Best practice is to format key words and headings rather than entire posts. ## LinkedIn Font Generator https://postformatter.com/linkedin-font-generator/ Free LinkedIn font generator: type once and copy any of 19 Unicode font styles (bold, italic, fraktur, script, bubble and more) to paste into LinkedIn posts, headlines, or comments. How to use: 1. Type your text into the box. 2. Browse the fonts: your text instantly appears in 19 Unicode font styles. 3. Copy your favourite style. 4. Paste into LinkedIn: post, headline, or comment. Works on any device. Font categories covered: Bold & Serif Bold (highest-impact styles for headlines); Italic, Bold Italic & Serif Italic (quotes and emphasis); Script & Bold Script (elegant, handwritten feel); Fraktur, Bold Fraktur & Double-struck (distinctive, gothic looks); Monospace & Small Caps (clean, technical headings); Circled (bubble), Squared, Wide & Upside-down (novelty styles). ### What fonts can I use on LinkedIn? LinkedIn itself only supports one plain font, but you can paste in Unicode font styles that look like bold, italic, fraktur (gothic), script, double-struck, monospace and more. The LinkedIn font generator converts your text into all of them; they are real Unicode characters, so they display correctly for everyone. ### How do I change the font on a LinkedIn post? There is no font setting in the LinkedIn composer. Instead, type your text in the font generator, copy the style you want, and paste it into your post. The styled characters carry across because they are Unicode text, not a font file. ### Will fancy fonts work in my LinkedIn headline and name? Most styles work in headlines, the About section, and comments. Use them sparingly in your name and headline: they are not searchable, so recruiters searching your title or keywords may not find styled words. ### Should I use fancy fonts on LinkedIn? Used in moderation, yes: a bold headline or a styled keyword helps a post stand out. Avoid styling entire posts: Unicode text is not indexed by LinkedIn search and can be harder for screen readers, so keep the bulk of your text plain. ## LinkedIn Character Counter https://postformatter.com/linkedin-character-counter/ Free LinkedIn character counter with real-time limit tracking for posts, headlines, about sections, and connection messages. LinkedIn character limits (complete reference): - Post body: 3,000 characters. Most effective posts are 1,200-1,500 characters. - "See more" cutoff: ~210 characters visible in the feed; your hook must live here. - Headline: 220 characters, visible in search results and on your profile card. - About section: 2,600 characters. - Connection note: 300 characters. - Comment: 1,250 characters. - InMail messages: 2,000 characters. How to use: enter your text, watch real-time progress rings for each LinkedIn content type, keep your strongest message within the 210-character "see more" cutoff, then copy and post. Optimization tips: hook in the first 210 characters; break the post into short paragraphs with blank lines; place 3-5 relevant hashtags at the end (they count toward the limit); end with a call to action; format key text with the LinkedIn Text Formatter; aim for 1,200-1,500 characters, the range that tends to get the most engagement. ### What is the character limit for LinkedIn posts? LinkedIn posts have a 3,000 character limit. However, only the first ~210 characters are visible in the feed; the rest is hidden behind a "see more" link. To maximize engagement, place your strongest hook within those first 210 characters. ### How does the 'see more' cutoff affect LinkedIn engagement? The "see more" cutoff hides content beyond the first ~210 characters in the LinkedIn feed. Posts with compelling hooks in those first 210 characters get more clicks to expand, which signals engagement to LinkedIn's algorithm and increases reach. ### What is the LinkedIn headline character limit? LinkedIn headlines have a 220 character limit. Your headline appears under your name on your profile and in search results, making it one of the most important elements for personal branding. ### Does this counter work for other platforms? The tool focuses on LinkedIn limits, but you can use it to count characters for any text. The Post Formatter Chrome extension includes built-in character counters for LinkedIn (3,000), X/Twitter (280), Threads (500), Facebook (63,206), and Bluesky (300). ## LinkedIn Banner Maker https://postformatter.com/linkedin-banner-maker/ Free online LinkedIn banner and cover photo maker: 20+ gradient presets, custom image upload, text overlay, and pixel-perfect PNG export at 1584×396 (personal) or 1128×191 (company page). No sign-up, no watermark. LinkedIn banner specifications (2026): - Personal profile banner: 1584×396 pixels, 4:1 aspect ratio. - Company page banner: 1128×191 pixels, roughly 6:1 aspect ratio. - Supported formats: PNG, JPG, and GIF. - Maximum file size: 8 MB. - Color space: sRGB for consistent colors across devices. LinkedIn automatically crops images that don't match the required dimensions; undersized photos get stretched and blurry, and off-ratio images lose important areas, especially on mobile where more of the banner is hidden behind the profile photo. How to create a LinkedIn banner: 1. Choose your banner size: 1584×396 for personal profiles or 1128×191 for company pages. 2. Pick a background: 20+ gradient presets, a solid color, or upload your own photo. 3. Add your text: name, job title, or tagline; 8 font families with adjustable size, color, and weight. 4. Fine-tune the layout: text alignment, vertical position, text shadow, and optional color overlay. 5. Preview your banner live. 6. Download as a high-resolution PNG ready to upload. Design tips: keep key text away from the left side where the profile photo overlaps, use high-contrast text colors, include your value proposition or a call to action, and check the result on both desktop and mobile. Everything runs in the browser; images and designs never leave your device. ### What is the correct LinkedIn banner size? The recommended LinkedIn banner size for personal profiles is 1584×396 pixels with a 4:1 aspect ratio. For company pages, use 1128×191 pixels. The banner maker exports at these exact dimensions so the cover photo fits without cropping or stretching. ### Can I upload my own photo as a LinkedIn background image? Yes. Click the Image tab in the background settings, upload any photo, and adjust its horizontal and vertical position using the sliders. You can also add a color overlay to improve text readability over the background image. ### What file format is the downloaded LinkedIn banner? Banners are downloaded as high-resolution PNG files at the exact pixel dimensions LinkedIn requires. PNG preserves sharp text and gradient quality without compression artifacts. ### How do I change my LinkedIn cover photo? Go to your LinkedIn profile, hover over your current banner area, and click the camera or pencil icon. Select 'Upload photo' and choose the PNG file you downloaded. Adjust positioning if needed and click Apply. ### What fonts can I use on my LinkedIn banner? The banner maker includes 8 font families: System UI, Arial, Georgia, Verdana, Trebuchet MS, Impact, Courier New, and Palatino, covering sans-serif, serif, and monospace styles. ### Is my data safe? Do you store my images? Everything runs 100% in your browser. No images, designs, or personal data are uploaded to any server; banner images and background photos never leave your device. (Unlike Canva or Figma, no account or login is needed, and the exact LinkedIn dimensions are pre-configured.) ## LinkedIn Carousel Maker https://postformatter.com/linkedin-carousel-maker/ Free online LinkedIn carousel maker: design multi-slide carousel posts with 24 gradient presets, 12 fonts, drag-and-drop text, and 1080×1080 PDF export. Up to 20 slides, no sign-up, no watermark, 100% client-side. LinkedIn carousel specifications (2026): - Recommended slide size: 1080×1080 pixels (square, 1:1). LinkedIn also supports 1080×1350 (4:5 portrait) and 1920×1080 (16:9 landscape). - Upload format: PDF document post; each page becomes a swipeable slide. LinkedIn also accepts PPT, PPTX, DOC, and DOCX, but PDF preserves fonts and layout exactly. - LinkedIn maximum: 300 pages per document post and 100 MB per file. This tool supports up to 20 slides; exported PDFs are roughly 100-500 KB. Engagement figures cited on the page: carousel posts generate 2-3x more engagement than text-only and single-image posts, reach 1.6x more users on average, hold 3.5x longer dwell time, and are saved 45% more often than other post types. How to create a LinkedIn carousel post: 1. Add your slides: start with a cover slide template, then add content, quote, list, or CTA slides (up to 20). 2. Customize backgrounds: 24 gradient presets or solid colors, per-slide or applied to all slides. 3. Add and style text: 12 font families, custom sizes and colors, drag to position. 4. Download and post: export all slides as a single PDF and upload it to LinkedIn as a document post. Best practices: write a scroll-stopping cover slide (bold 5-8 word headline); one idea per slide; keep visual consistency across slides; end with a clear CTA slide; optimize the caption (hook in the first line, 3-5 hashtags, a question); aim for 8-12 slides (1 cover + 6-10 content + 1 CTA). ### What is a LinkedIn carousel post? A LinkedIn carousel is a multi-slide document post that users swipe through in their feed. You upload a PDF or PowerPoint file to LinkedIn, and each page becomes a swipeable slide. Carousel posts consistently get 2-3x higher engagement than text-only or single-image posts because the swipe interaction keeps users actively engaged with the content for longer. ### What is the best size for LinkedIn carousels? The recommended LinkedIn carousel size is 1080×1080 pixels (square, 1:1 aspect ratio), which displays well on both desktop and mobile feeds. LinkedIn also supports 1080×1350 (portrait, 4:5) and 1920×1080 (landscape, 16:9), but square carousels are the most versatile and widely used format in 2026. ### How many slides should a LinkedIn carousel have? The sweet spot is 8-12 slides. Under 5 feels thin; over 15 loses readers before the end. A proven structure: 1 hook/cover slide, 6-10 content slides with one idea each, and 1 CTA slide. LinkedIn supports up to 300 pages per document post; this carousel maker supports up to 20 slides. ### How do I post a carousel on LinkedIn? 1) Design your slides and download the PDF from the carousel maker, 2) go to LinkedIn and start a new post, 3) click the document icon (or 'More' then 'Add a document'), 4) upload the PDF, 5) add a title for the document, 6) write a caption with a hook in the first line and 3-5 hashtags, 7) click Post. Each PDF page becomes a swipeable carousel slide. ### What fonts are available in this carousel maker? 12 professional font families: System, Montserrat, Inter, Poppins, DM Sans, Outfit, Playfair Display, Lora, Space Grotesk, Bebas Neue, Raleway, and Oswald, spanning modern sans-serif, elegant serif, and bold display categories. Every slide has independent background, font, text size, and position settings, or apply one background to all slides with one click. ## LinkedIn Video Downloader https://postformatter.com/linkedin-video-downloader/ Free online tool to download public LinkedIn videos in high quality on any device (PC, Mac, Android, iOS). Videos are saved to the device's gallery or downloads folder. ### What video quality can I download? Videos are downloaded in the highest quality available, up to the original resolution uploaded to LinkedIn. Most LinkedIn videos are available in 720p or 1080p. ### Can I download videos from private LinkedIn accounts? No. Only videos from public LinkedIn posts can be downloaded. Videos from private profiles or posts with restricted visibility cannot be accessed by any third-party tool. ### Where are downloaded LinkedIn videos saved? On desktop (PC/Mac), videos are saved to the Downloads folder. On mobile (iPhone/Android), videos are saved to the device's gallery, camera roll, or media downloads section. ## Facebook Text Formatter https://postformatter.com/facebook-text-formatter/ Free Facebook text formatter and bold text generator with a live post preview. Add bold, italic, strikethrough and 8+ Unicode font styles to Facebook posts, comments and your bio. Facebook gives you no formatting buttons for posts, comments or bios. The formatter converts your letters into Unicode characters; copy and paste the result anywhere on Facebook. The live preview shows the "See more" cutoff before you publish. Styles: Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Strikethrough, Underline, Monospace, Script, Small Caps (the Chrome extension adds 25+ more). Use cases: a bold first line before the "See more" cutoff in the News Feed, bold key phrases in comments and Group replies, styled Page descriptions and pinned posts, and scannable Marketplace listing titles. ### How do I make bold text on Facebook? Facebook has no bold button for posts or comments. Type your text into the Facebook Text Formatter, select it, click Bold, then copy and paste it into your Facebook post, comment, or bio. The tool converts your letters into Unicode bold characters that Facebook displays exactly as typed. ### Does this formatting work in Facebook comments, bios and groups? Yes. Because the output is plain Unicode text, it works anywhere you can type on Facebook: feed posts, comments, your profile bio and intro, Page descriptions, Group posts, Marketplace listings, and event descriptions, on both desktop and the mobile app. ### What is the Facebook post character limit? A Facebook post can be up to 63,206 characters, but only the first ~477 characters show in the feed before a 'See more' link. Put your hook, and any bold text, near the start so it is visible before the cutoff. ## X (Twitter) Text Formatter https://postformatter.com/x-twitter-text-formatter/ Free X / Twitter text formatter and bold text generator with a live tweet preview. Add bold, italic, strikethrough and 8+ Unicode font styles to tweets, replies and your bio. X has no formatting buttons. The formatter converts text to Unicode automatically; copy the result and paste it into any tweet or your profile. Length caveat: X counts styled Unicode characters with a weighted scheme, and bold or italic letters usually count as two characters each, so format a few key words rather than the whole tweet to stay within 280. Styles: Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Strikethrough, Underline, Monospace, Script, Small Caps (the Chrome extension adds 25+ more). ### How do I make bold text on X (Twitter)? X has no bold or italic button. Type your text into the X Text Formatter, select it, click Bold, then copy and paste it into your tweet, reply or bio. The tool converts your letters into Unicode bold characters that X displays exactly as typed. ### Where does the formatting work on X? Anywhere you type on X: tweets and threads, replies, quote posts, your display name, your bio, and List names. Because the output is plain Unicode text, it works on x.com and in the X mobile apps without any extra steps. ### Do styled characters count toward the 280-character limit? Yes, and it matters. X counts characters with a weighted scheme, and Unicode 'math alphanumeric' letters (the ones used for bold and italic) usually count as two characters each, so styled words use up the 280-character limit faster than plain text. Format your key words and your hook rather than the whole tweet. ### Can I bold my X display name and bio? Yes. A bold or styled display name and bio make a profile stand out in search, mentions and the who-to-follow panel. Paste the formatted text straight into your X profile settings. ## Threads Text Formatter https://postformatter.com/threads-text-formatter/ Free Threads text formatter and bold text generator with a live post preview. Add bold, italic, strikethrough and 8+ Unicode font styles to Threads posts, replies and your bio. Threads has no formatting buttons. The formatter converts text to Unicode; copy the result and paste it anywhere on Threads. The styling even carries over when you cross-post to Instagram. Styles: Bold, Italic, Bold Italic, Strikethrough, Underline, Monospace, Script, Small Caps (the Chrome extension adds 25+ more). ### How do I make bold text on Threads? Threads has no bold or italic button. Type your text into the Threads Text Formatter, select it, click Bold, then copy and paste it into your Threads post, reply or bio. The tool converts your letters into Unicode bold characters that Threads displays exactly as typed. ### Where does the formatting work on Threads? Anywhere you type on Threads: posts, replies, and your profile bio. Because the output is plain Unicode text, it works in the Threads app and on threads.net without any extra steps. ### What is the Threads character limit? Each Threads post can be up to 500 characters. The styled Unicode characters count the same as normal characters, so a fully bold post still fits within the same 500-character budget. ### Does the formatting carry over when I cross-post to Instagram? Yes. Because the styling is built from real Unicode characters rather than app-specific formatting, bold and italic text carries over when you share to Instagram, and it works in Instagram captions, bios and comments too. ## LinkedIn Post Preview https://postformatter.com/linkedin-post-preview/ Free tool: paste a LinkedIn draft and see it as a real feed card with the "…more" link exactly where LinkedIn puts it, on desktop and mobile, no sign-up. Key facts: - LinkedIn truncates posts in the feed at roughly the first 210 characters or 3 lines on desktop, whichever runs out first. - In the mobile app the visible budget is about 140 characters, still capped at ~3 lines. - Blank lines count as full lines, so an airy opener is cut earlier than its character count suggests. - The full post limit is 3,000 characters; everything past the cutoff shows after the reader clicks "…more". - LinkedIn does not publish these numbers and tests variations; treat the first 140 characters as the safe zone on every device. - The preview models the cutoff as a character budget plus a line cap with blank lines counted, matching the live feed's behavior. ### Where is the LinkedIn see more cutoff? About 210 characters or 3 lines on the desktop feed and about 140 characters in the mobile app. Both budgets apply at once and blank lines count as full lines. ### Can I preview bold and Unicode text? Yes. Styled Unicode is real text, so pasting it into the preview renders exactly what the feed will show. ### Is the preview free? Yes, free with no sign-up. The Post Formatter Chrome extension shows the same preview live inside LinkedIn's composer as part of Pro. ## ChatGPT to LinkedIn Formatter https://postformatter.com/chatgpt-to-linkedin-formatter/ Free converter: paste markdown from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any AI tool and get LinkedIn-ready text. Runs entirely in the browser, nothing uploaded, no sign-up. Alias: https://postformatter.com/markdown-to-linkedin Key facts: - LinkedIn's post composer accepts plain text only: it renders no markdown and strips rich-text styling on paste. - ChatGPT's Copy button yields raw markdown, so **bold** pastes into LinkedIn as literal asterisks; copying the rendered text loses the bold entirely. - The converter turns **bold** into Unicode bold, *italic* into Unicode italic, hyphen lists into • bullets, headings into bold lines, ~~strikethrough~~ and `code` into their Unicode equivalents. Links become "label (url)". Tables have no LinkedIn equivalent. - Unicode-styled words are not indexed by LinkedIn search and can be read poorly by screen readers, so style a few key phrases and keep searchable keywords plain. ### Why does bold text from ChatGPT not work on LinkedIn? ChatGPT writes bold as markdown (two asterisks). LinkedIn does not render markdown and has no bold button, so the asterisks paste in literally. Converting the markdown to Unicode bold characters fixes it because those are real text. ### Does it work with Claude and Gemini? Yes. All major AI tools output the same markdown conventions, so the conversion is identical. ## LinkedIn Symbols https://postformatter.com/linkedin-symbols/ (English) https://postformatter.com/de/linkedin-symbole/ (German: LinkedIn Symbole & Sonderzeichen zum Kopieren) 100+ click-to-copy symbols for LinkedIn, grouped by category: arrows (→ ➤ ⇒), checkmarks and crosses (✓ ✔ ✗), bullets and dots (• ● ▪), stars (★ ✦ ✨), circled numbers (① ❶), hearts (♥ ❤), lines and separators (─ ━ |), signs and marks (§ © ™ €). Key facts: - Symbols are plain Unicode text, so LinkedIn accepts them in posts (3,000 chars), comments (1,250), headlines (220), About sections (2,600), connection notes and company pages. - Screen readers announce each symbol by its Unicode name, so decorative runs of symbols become noise for listeners; one separator is fine. - Rare glyphs can render as empty boxes on older devices; the characters on this page are from widely supported blocks. - Unlike Unicode-styled fonts, individual symbols do not hide words from LinkedIn search. ### Are symbols allowed on LinkedIn? Yes, they are ordinary text characters and work anywhere text goes on LinkedIn. Use them sparingly to stay professional. ### Do symbols work in LinkedIn headlines? Yes, and each counts toward the 220-character headline limit. Keep job titles and skills in plain text so they stay searchable. ## How to Bold Text on LinkedIn https://postformatter.com/how-to-bold-text-on-linkedin/ Quick answer: LinkedIn has no built-in bold button, so you make text bold using Unicode characters that look like bold letters (𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀). Type your text into a LinkedIn text formatter, select it, click Bold, then copy and paste it into your post. Or install the Post Formatter Chrome extension to bold text inline, right inside LinkedIn. Method 1: Use a free LinkedIn text formatter (no install) 1. Open the LinkedIn Text Formatter at https://postformatter.com/linkedin-text-formatter/ 2. Type or paste the text you want to bold. 3. Select the words, then click Bold (use the live preview to check the look). 4. Click Copy, then paste into your LinkedIn post. Free, no account, works on phone or computer. Method 2: Bold text inline with a Chrome extension 1. Install the free Post Formatter extension. 2. Start writing a LinkedIn post as usual. 3. Select text; a small toolbar appears. Click Bold (or press Ctrl+B). 4. Done, no copy-paste, no separate tab. Why this works: these tools convert ordinary letters into characters from the Unicode Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. The letter "a" becomes "𝗮", "b" becomes "𝗯", and so on. Because they are real text characters, they survive copy-paste and render correctly on LinkedIn, plus X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky and anywhere else that accepts text. Best practices: bold for emphasis, not decoration (highlight the hook, a key stat, or a section label); keep hashtags and keywords plain, because LinkedIn search cannot index bold Unicode words; and mind accessibility, since screen readers may skip or misread Unicode styling. ### Why is there no bold button on LinkedIn? LinkedIn's post composer only accepts plain text, so it has no rich-text buttons for bold or italic. The workaround is to use Unicode characters that look like bold letters; they paste in as normal text but render in a bold style everywhere. ### Does bold text hurt my LinkedIn reach? Bold text itself does not reduce reach, but overusing it can. Unicode characters are not indexed by LinkedIn search and may not be read correctly by screen readers, so bold a few key words and headlines rather than entire posts, and keep hashtags in plain text. ### Will bold text show correctly on mobile? Yes. Because the characters are real Unicode text, they display correctly in the LinkedIn mobile app, desktop app, and web, on any device and operating system. ### Is it free to bold text on LinkedIn? Yes. The online LinkedIn Text Formatter is completely free, and bold, italic and underline are part of the free core of the Post Formatter Chrome extension, no sign-up needed. Optional Pro features are a paid upgrade. ## How to Italicize on LinkedIn https://postformatter.com/how-to-italicize-on-linkedin/ Quick answer: LinkedIn has no italic button, so you italicize using Unicode characters that look like slanted letters. Type your text into the LinkedIn text formatter, select it, click Italic, then copy and paste it into your post; it shows as 𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘴 for everyone. Method 1: Use a free formatter 1. Open the LinkedIn Text Formatter (or the font generator). 2. Type or paste the text you want in italics. 3. Select it and click Italic. 4. Paste into your LinkedIn post. Method 2: The Post Formatter Chrome extension lets you italicize inside the LinkedIn composer: select text and press Ctrl+I, no copy-paste needed. When to use italics: quotes and citations, publication titles, and subtle emphasis lighter than bold. Keep it light: italic Unicode isn't searchable and can be harder to read in long runs, so use it for accents, not paragraphs. ### Can you italicize text on LinkedIn? Not with a built-in button: LinkedIn posts are plain text. You italicize by converting your words into italic Unicode characters with a formatter, then pasting them in. They display as italics for everyone, on every device. ### How do I make italic text on LinkedIn mobile? The method is the same on mobile: open the formatter in your phone browser, type your text, tap Italic, copy, and paste into the LinkedIn app. Because the characters are real Unicode text, they render correctly in the iOS and Android apps. ### Does italic text affect LinkedIn search or accessibility? Italic Unicode words are not indexed by LinkedIn search and may be read awkwardly by screen readers. Italicize a quote, a title, or a few words for emphasis, not whole posts, and keep keywords and hashtags in plain text. ## How to Add Bullet Points on LinkedIn https://postformatter.com/how-to-add-bullet-points-on-linkedin/ Quick answer: LinkedIn has no bullet-list button and ignores Markdown, so you add bullets by pasting a symbol like •, →, or ✅ at the start of each line. Step by step: 1. Copy a bullet symbol (•, →, ▸, ✅). 2. In your LinkedIn post, paste it, add a space, then your text. 3. Press Enter for the next item and paste the symbol again. 4. Optional: bold the first word of each bullet for extra scannability. Tips for clean lists: pick one symbol and use it consistently (• for neutral lists, → or ✅ for action items); keep items to one line each; add a blank line before and after the list. ### Does LinkedIn support bullet points? LinkedIn does not turn Markdown (- or *) into bullet lists, and there is no list button. You add bullets by pasting a bullet symbol at the start of each line yourself. The symbols are plain Unicode characters, so they show for everyone. ### What is the best bullet symbol for LinkedIn? A simple round bullet (•) looks cleanest and most professional. Arrows (→, ▸) and check marks (✅) work well for action items or benefit lists. Avoid mixing too many symbols in one post. ### How do I make a numbered list on LinkedIn? Type the numbers manually, "1.", "2.", "3.", each on its own line. Like bullets, LinkedIn will not auto-format them, but a manual numbered list is perfectly readable. ### Why do my bullet points lose their line breaks on LinkedIn? Press Enter (not Shift+Enter) between items, and write the post directly in the composer or paste from plain text. Pasting from some rich-text editors can collapse line breaks; paste as plain text if that happens. ## LinkedIn Post Formatting Guide https://postformatter.com/linkedin-post-formatting-guide/ The complete guide to formatting LinkedIn posts: text styles, lists, white space, length, and best practices for readability and reach. What LinkedIn supports (and what it doesn't): LinkedIn posts accept plain text only, no rich-text toolbar, no Markdown, no HTML. There is no native button for bold or italic. What you can control natively is line breaks, paragraph spacing, and pasted symbols. For actual text styling, you use Unicode characters that already look bold or italic. 1. Text styles: use a free LinkedIn text formatter to convert words into styled Unicode. The most useful styles: Bold (𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱) for hooks, headlines, and key numbers; Italic (𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘤) for quotes, titles, and subtle emphasis; Strikethrough (s̶t̶r̶i̶k̶e̶) for before/after or a touch of humour; Small caps and monospace for labels and a technical look. 2. Bullet points and lists: LinkedIn won't turn - or * into a list, so paste a symbol at the start of each line yourself: •, ▶, ✅, or → all work. Put each item on its own line. 3. Line breaks and white space: open with a one-line hook, then a blank line, then short 1-2 sentence paragraphs. LinkedIn truncates posts after a couple of lines with a "…see more" link, so the first line has to earn the click. 4. Post length and character limits: LinkedIn posts cap at 3,000 characters. A character counter also helps for headlines (220 chars) and the About section (2,600 chars). Best practices: format for clarity, not decoration; keep searchable terms plain (Unicode-styled words aren't indexed by LinkedIn search, so leave hashtags and key terms unstyled); respect accessibility (never hide essential meaning inside styled characters). ### Can you format text in LinkedIn posts? Not with built-in buttons: LinkedIn's post composer is plain text. You add bold, italic, underline, and other styles using Unicode characters from a formatter tool, then paste them into your post. Line breaks, short paragraphs, and bullet symbols are also part of good formatting and work natively. ### What is the ideal LinkedIn post length? LinkedIn allows up to 3,000 characters per post. Many high-performing posts run 1,200-1,600 characters with short paragraphs and white space. Use a character counter to stay within limits for posts, headlines, and the About section. ### Does formatting affect LinkedIn reach? Formatting that improves readability (line breaks, a strong hook, a few bold highlights) tends to help engagement. Overusing Unicode styling can hurt, because styled words are not searchable and may not be accessible to screen readers. Format for clarity, not decoration. ## How to Bold Text on X (Twitter) https://postformatter.com/how-to-bold-text-on-x-twitter/ X (Twitter) has no bold button in regular posts, replies, bios or display names. The one place X offers real rich-text bold is Articles, a Premium long-form feature. For everything else the workaround is Unicode bold: type your text, copy the bold version, and paste it in. The bold letters are ordinary Unicode characters, so they render bold for every reader on iOS, Android, the website and embedded posts. Steps: (1) type your text into the converter on the page; (2) click Copy next to the bold style you prefer (sans-serif bold, serif bold or bold italic); (3) paste into your post, reply, bio or display name; (4) check the character count. The caveat unique to X: styled Unicode letters usually count as two characters each toward the 280-character limit, so a fully bolded sentence uses roughly double the budget. Bold a few key words, not whole paragraphs. Styled characters are also not matched by X search, so keep display names and searchable keywords plain. ### Why is there no bold option on X? Regular posts on X are plain text only. The one place X offers real rich-text bold is Articles, a Premium feature for long-form writing. For normal posts, replies, bios and display names, the workaround is Unicode bold characters, which paste in as text and render bold for everyone. ### Does bold text count more characters on X? Yes. X counts most Unicode bold letters as two characters each toward the 280 limit, so a fully bolded sentence uses roughly double the budget. Bold a few key words, not whole paragraphs, and the cost stays negligible. ### Can I use bold in my X bio and display name? Yes. Both accept Unicode characters, so bold, italic, script and other styles work there. Keep your display name mostly plain, styled characters are not matched by search, so people typing your real name may not find a fully styled one. ### Is this free? Yes. The converter on the page is free with no sign-up, and bold is part of the free core of the Post Formatter Chrome extension, which applies it directly inside the X composer. ## How to Bold Text on Facebook https://postformatter.com/how-to-bold-text-on-facebook/ Facebook posts, comments, bios and event descriptions are plain text with no bold button (a few Group posts on desktop offer limited native formatting). The universal workaround is Unicode bold: type your text, copy the bold version, and paste it into any Facebook text field. The bold letters are real Unicode characters, so they render bold for every reader on desktop and mobile, including Messenger. Steps: (1) type your text into the converter; (2) click Copy next to the bold style you want; (3) paste into your post, comment, bio, Page description or event; (4) post it. Things to know: it works in every text field (posts, comments, replies, bios, Page descriptions, event details and Messenger); some desktop Group posts have native formatting, use it when it appears; keep #hashtags plain because a styled hashtag is not recognized; and Facebook search does not match styled words, so never style names or keywords people search for. ### Why can I not make text bold on Facebook? Regular Facebook posts, comments and bios are plain text with no formatting toolbar. A few surfaces (like some Group posts on desktop) offer limited formatting, but for everything else the workaround is Unicode bold characters, which paste in as ordinary text and render bold for everyone. ### Does bold text work in Facebook comments and Messenger? Yes. Because the bold letters are Unicode text rather than formatting, they work in posts, comments, replies, bios, Page descriptions, event details and Messenger chats on every device. ### Will bold text affect my post reach? The characters themselves do not change distribution, but Facebook search does not match styled words and screen readers may struggle with them. Bold a headline or a few key phrases and leave the body plain. ### Is this free? Yes. The converter on the page is free with no sign-up, and bold is part of the free core of the Post Formatter Chrome extension, which applies it directly inside the Facebook composer. ## Typegrow Alternative https://postformatter.com/typegrow-alternative/ How Post Formatter compares to Typegrow. Typegrow is an all-in-one AI growth suite; Post Formatter is a focused, free formatter that works inline inside LinkedIn, with no account, no copy-paste, 30+ styles, across 7 platforms. Comparison at a glance (compiled June 2026 from publicly available information; Typegrow features and pricing may change): | Feature | Post Formatter | Typegrow | | --- | --- | --- | | Price | Free core + Pro from $8/mo or $49 lifetime | Paid plans from ~$20/mo | | Sign-up / account | Not required (online tool) | Account required | | Format text inside LinkedIn | Yes, inline via Chrome extension | Copy & paste from web tool | | Text styles | 30+ Unicode styles (bold, italic, fraktur, bubble…) | Bold, italic & basic styles | | Works beyond LinkedIn | X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, Pinterest | LinkedIn-focused | | Live post preview | Yes | Yes | | Post scheduling | No | Yes | | AI post & carousel generation | AI proofread & auto-styling | Full AI content suite | | Best for | Fast, free post formatting | All-in-one LinkedIn growth | When Typegrow might be the better fit: if you want an all-in-one platform to generate posts and carousels with AI, schedule them at optimal times, and browse a library of viral posts, Typegrow is built for that broader workflow. Post Formatter is intentionally narrower: it does formatting (and a few related tools) for free, without an account. Many creators use a dedicated formatter alongside a scheduler. ### What is the best free Typegrow alternative for formatting? If you mainly want to format LinkedIn posts (bold, italic, underline, and Unicode font styles), Post Formatter is a focused, free alternative. Unlike a web-based formatter that needs copy-paste, the Post Formatter Chrome extension lets you format text inline, directly inside the LinkedIn composer, with no account required. It also works on X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, and more. ### Does Post Formatter require an account like Typegrow? No. The online LinkedIn Text Formatter and the Post Formatter Chrome extension both work without sign-up. Typegrow is a broader growth platform that requires creating an account to use its suite. ### Can I format LinkedIn text without copy-pasting? Yes. That is the main advantage of the Post Formatter Chrome extension: select text directly in the LinkedIn post box, click a style in the inline toolbar, and it is formatted in place, no switching to a separate website and pasting back. ### Is Post Formatter free compared to Typegrow? The online formatter is completely free. The Chrome extension is free to install with a free core (bold, italic, bold italic, strikethrough, underline and case), plus an optional Pro upgrade (AI proofreading, 30+ premium styles, multi-platform preview, and Drafts Pro) from $8/mo, $29/yr, or $49 lifetime. Even Pro is cheaper than Typegrow's subscription, with a one-time lifetime option they don't offer. ### Does Post Formatter do scheduling and AI content like Typegrow? Post Formatter focuses on formatting and includes AI proofread and auto-styling, but it does not schedule posts or generate full posts and carousels. If you need an all-in-one scheduling and AI content suite, Typegrow covers that ground; if you want the fastest free way to format and preview posts, Post Formatter is purpose-built for it. ## YayText Alternative https://postformatter.com/yaytext-alternative/ What YayText is and how Post Formatter compares. YayText (yaytext.com) is a free website that converts plain text into styled Unicode text (bold, italic, cursive, bubble, small caps and many decorated variants) that you copy and paste into social networks. Post Formatter covers the same copy-paste use case with a free online yay text generator (19 Unicode font styles, no sign-up), and additionally offers what YayText does not: a Chrome extension that styles text directly inside the post box on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube and Pinterest, so no copy-paste is needed. Comparison at a glance (compiled July 2026 from publicly available information; YayText features may change): | Feature | Post Formatter | YayText | | --- | --- | --- | | How you style text | Inline in the post box, plus free online tools | Type on the site, then copy and paste | | Browser extension | Yes, Chrome, Edge and Brave | No, website only | | Unicode text styles | 30+ styles: bold, italic, script, fraktur, bubble… | Large style library with decorated variants | | Keyboard shortcuts | Ctrl+B / Ctrl+I right in the composer | No | | Live post preview | Yes, per platform, with the LinkedIn see-more cutoff | No | | AI proofread and auto-styling | Yes, optional Pro | No | | Drafts with folders and tags | Yes, optional Pro | No | | Price | Free basics and tools; Pro from $8/mo or $49 lifetime | Free | | Best for | People who post often on LinkedIn, X or Facebook | One-off fancy text via copy-paste | When YayText might be the better fit: it offers a huge library of decorated styles, per-style pages and an emoji directory, all free in the browser. For rare, one-off fancy text a copy-paste generator is enough. Post Formatter earns its place for people who post regularly: the extension removes the tab switching, previews posts before publishing, and keeps drafts organized. ### What is the best free YayText alternative? Post Formatter is a strong free YayText alternative because it covers both workflows: a free online yay text generator with 19 Unicode font styles for quick copy-paste, and a Chrome extension that formats text directly inside the post box on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube and Pinterest, so you skip copy-paste entirely. No account is required for either. ### How is Post Formatter different from YayText? The main difference is where the styling happens. YayText is a website: you type there, copy, and paste into your post. Post Formatter is primarily a Chrome extension: you write your post normally and style it in place, with keyboard shortcuts, a live post preview and drafts. Post Formatter also offers free online tools for when you prefer the copy-paste way. ### Do yay text fonts work on LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok? Yes. Styled text from YayText, the Post Formatter generator or the extension is made of real Unicode characters, so it works anywhere text can be pasted: LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Discord, WhatsApp, YouTube and more. A few exotic styles can render as boxes on very old devices. ## AuthoredUp Alternative https://postformatter.com/authoredup-alternative/ AuthoredUp is a LinkedIn content platform (Chrome extension + web app, around 30,000 users) for professional creators and teams: a formatting editor with multi-device previews, hundreds of hook and CTA templates, unlimited drafts and snippets, scheduling with a content calendar, post history, and detailed analytics with CSV export. It works only on LinkedIn, deliberately ships no AI writing help, and costs $19.95/month (or $199.50/year) per profile with no free tier beyond a 14-day trial. Post Formatter is the lightweight alternative: it does the formatting part directly inside the composer, on seven platforms, with a free core. Comparison at a glance (prices and features checked July 2026 on the vendors' official pages; both change over time): | Feature | Post Formatter | AuthoredUp | | --- | --- | --- | | Free plan | Yes, core formatting free forever | No, 14-day trial only | | Paid pricing | $8/mo, $29/yr, or $49 lifetime | $19.95/mo or $199.50/yr per profile | | Platforms | LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, Pinterest | LinkedIn only | | Where you format | Directly inside the post composer | Separate editor, then publish | | Post preview | Live LinkedIn preview + 5-platform mockups | Multi-device LinkedIn preview | | Drafts | Yes, with folders, tags and search | Yes, unlimited, with snippets | | AI writing help | AI proofread + rewrite (your own OpenRouter key) | None, deliberately no AI | | Scheduling & calendar | No | Yes, with direct publishing | | Analytics | No | Yes, deep stats with CSV export | | Team / agency accounts | No | Yes, Business plans (3+ profiles) | When AuthoredUp is the better fit: if you need LinkedIn analytics with CSV export, native scheduling with a content calendar, or team accounts across multiple profiles. Post Formatter has none of those and does not try to, it is a formatting, preview, drafts and AI tool, not a LinkedIn management suite. The two coexist happily: format inline everywhere with Post Formatter, keep AuthoredUp (or any scheduler) for the calendar and stats. ### Is AuthoredUp free? No. AuthoredUp has no free plan, only a 14-day trial, then $19.95 per month or $199.50 per year for one LinkedIn profile. Post Formatter keeps core formatting (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough and more) free forever, with Pro at $29 per year or $49 lifetime for premium styles and AI features. ### Does AuthoredUp work on X or Facebook? No, AuthoredUp is built for LinkedIn only. Post Formatter applies the same formatting toolbar inside LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube and Pinterest. ### Does AuthoredUp have AI features? No, and that is a stated design choice on their side. Post Formatter includes AI proofreading and AI rewriting that work inside the composer using your own OpenRouter API key, so AI usage is under your control. ## PerfectPost Alternative https://postformatter.com/perfectpost-alternative/ PerfectPost is a LinkedIn tool with a free tier (up to 5 scheduled posts, one month of analytics history, unlimited drafts); the full product (unlimited scheduling, full analytics, an AI assistant, custom feeds, commenter tracking) is Premium at €19/month or €168/year. It works on LinkedIn only and needs broad LinkedIn access to power its feeds and analytics. Post Formatter is the lightweight alternative: it formats posts directly inside the composer on seven platforms, with a free core, and installs with no site access until you enable it per site. Comparison at a glance (checked July 2026 on the vendors' official pages; both change over time): | Feature | Post Formatter | PerfectPost | | --- | --- | --- | | Free plan | Yes, core formatting free forever | Yes, limited (5 scheduled posts, 1 month of stats) | | Paid pricing | $8/mo, $29/yr, or $49 lifetime | €19/mo, or €168/yr | | Platforms | LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, Pinterest | LinkedIn only | | Where you format | Directly inside the post composer | Separate editor with preview | | AI writing help | AI proofread + rewrite (your own OpenRouter key) | AI assistant on Premium | | Scheduling | No | Yes, 5 posts free, unlimited on Premium | | Analytics & feeds | No | Yes, analytics, custom feeds, commenter tracking | | Site access at install | None, you enable only the sites you use | Broad LinkedIn access powers feeds and analytics | When PerfectPost is the better fit: its custom feeds (a curated LinkedIn feed of people you choose), commenter tracking for social selling, and scheduling that starts on the free tier. If those workflows matter, PerfectPost does things Post Formatter does not attempt. The two also coexist: format inline with Post Formatter, schedule and analyze with PerfectPost. ### Is PerfectPost free? Partly. PerfectPost's free tier covers up to 5 scheduled posts, one month of analytics history and unlimited drafts; the full product is Premium at €19/month or €168/year. Post Formatter keeps core formatting free forever, with Pro at $8/month, $29/year or $49 lifetime. ### Does PerfectPost work outside LinkedIn? No, PerfectPost is a LinkedIn tool. Post Formatter applies the same formatting toolbar inside LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube and Pinterest. ### What about browser permissions? Post Formatter installs with no site access at all, you switch it on per site (or everywhere) yourself, and your post text never leaves the browser. Tools with feed analytics necessarily need much broader access to your LinkedIn data, which is a trade-off worth knowing about whichever tool you choose. ## Taplio Alternative https://postformatter.com/taplio-alternative/ Comparison page. Facts verified August 2026 against taplio.com. What Taplio is: an all-in-one LinkedIn growth suite by lempire, AI post generation, content inspiration library, scheduling with a queue, carousel tools, analytics and engagement/CRM features. LinkedIn only. No free plan, 7-day trial. Pricing: Starter $39/mo ($32/mo annual) with no AI writing, Growth $69/mo ($49/mo annual) where AI starts, Pro $199/mo. How Post Formatter compares: free core formatting forever inside the composer on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube and Pinterest; Pro at $8/mo, $29/yr or $49 lifetime adds premium styles, live preview, drafts, AI proofread and auto-style with your own OpenRouter key. Post Formatter has no scheduler, no analytics and no CRM, and does not try to; choose Taplio when those carry your workflow, choose Post Formatter when formatting, preview and drafts are the actual need. The two coexist without conflict. ### Is Taplio free? No, only a 7-day trial. Paid plans start at $39/mo, and AI writing is not included until the $69/mo Growth plan. ### How much does Taplio cost per year? On monthly billing: Starter $468/yr, Growth $828/yr. Billed annually: $384 and $588. Post Formatter Pro is $29/yr or $49 lifetime. ## Blog: What Are Impressions on LinkedIn? https://postformatter.com/blog/what-are-impressions-on-linkedin/ Author: Artyom Shimanski, founder of Post Formatter (https://www.linkedin.com/in/artyom-shimanski/, https://shimanski.dev/). Published 2026-07-26. Primary sources for every figure below (checked against LinkedIn's own documentation, not against other articles): - LinkedIn Help, "Post analytics for your content": https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a516971 (definitions of impressions and members reached; the statement that your own views count toward your content's analytics; analytics retention windows) - LinkedIn Marketing Solutions Help, "Content analytics for your LinkedIn Page": https://www.linkedin.com/help/lms/answer/a564051 (viewability threshold of 50 percent on screen for 300 milliseconds or more, or a click; engagement-rate formula; 2-second video view) Short answer: An impression on LinkedIn is one instance of your post appearing on someone's screen. LinkedIn counts one when at least 50% of your post is visible for 300 milliseconds or more, or when someone clicks it. Impressions count every appearance, so one person who scrolls past your post three times generates three impressions but only one member reached. ### What an impression actually is LinkedIn's own help documentation defines impressions as "Number of times your post was shown on LinkedIn," and adds that the figure is an estimate and may not be precise. The technical viewability threshold, published in LinkedIn's advertising documentation, is that content counts when it is at least 50 percent on the screen for 300 milliseconds or more, or when it is clicked. 300 milliseconds is roughly the time a post occupies the screen when someone scrolls past without stopping. An impression therefore proves the post was displayed, not that it was read. "Post impression" and "impression" mean the same thing on LinkedIn; the same counting rule covers text posts, images, documents, videos, articles and (since 2025) comments. ### How LinkedIn counts impressions 1. Repeat views count separately. The same person seeing your post three times produces three impressions and one member reached. 2. Your own views count. LinkedIn states that your own views, social engagements, link engagements, saves and sends are counted toward the analytics of your content. Refreshing your own post inflates its impression count. 3. Impressions accrue from the home feed, out-of-network feeds, notifications and email digests, your profile activity, search and topic pages, reposts, and comment sections. 4. The number is an estimate and lags, especially in the first hour after publishing. LinkedIn's Discovery panel splits impressions into in-network (people connected to or following you) and out-of-network (everyone else). A high out-of-network share means the post found a new audience. ### Impressions vs members reached vs views - Impressions: every time your post was shown on a screen for 300ms at 50% visibility, or clicked. Repeats included. - Members reached: the distinct members and Pages that saw your post at least once. LinkedIn's wording: "Number of distinct members and Pages that saw your post. This number is an estimate and does not include repeat views." Repeats removed. - Views (the public counter under a post): the same underlying impression data under a different label. LinkedIn changed the feed counter to read "views" while analytics kept saying "impressions," which is the source of most confusion. - Engagements: reactions, comments, reposts, saves, sends and clicks. LinkedIn computes engagement rate as interactions divided by impressions. - Video views: watches longer than 2 seconds, organic and sponsored combined. Useful ratio: impressions divided by members reached is the average number of times each person saw the post. Close to 1.0 means served widely and shallowly; 1.3 to 1.8 is typical for a post that kept resurfacing; above 2.0 means a relatively small group saw it repeatedly. ### Where to find impressions, and how long LinkedIn keeps them On a personal profile the impression count sits beneath each published post; clicking it opens discovery, the in-network/out-of-network split, members reached, engagement and demographics. Company pages use Analytics then Content. Retention windows: discovery and engagement 1,000 days, members reached 400 days, video analytics 365 days, demographic breakdown 180 days, article analytics 2 years. ### What is a good number of impressions on LinkedIn? There is no universal number, because impressions scale with audience size. Use the ratio of impressions to follower count: under 0.5x means the post stayed in a small pocket of your audience; 1x to 3x is a normal, healthy post; 5x to 10x means the post escaped your network; over 10x is genuinely viral for your account size. These bands come from observing creator analytics, not from LinkedIn. The best benchmark is your own median across your last twenty posts. - Is 100 impressions on LinkedIn good? On a new account with under 200 connections, yes, that is normal. On an account with 5,000 followers it signals the post got almost no distribution. - Is 1,000 impressions on LinkedIn good? With 300 followers it is a strong result. With 20,000 followers it means the post barely circulated. The same number, opposite verdicts. - What does 200 impressions mean on LinkedIn? The post was displayed 200 times, typically across 100 to 170 distinct people once repeats are removed. - What does 12 impressions mean on LinkedIn? Twelve on-screen appearances. Normal in the first minutes after publishing, on a brand-new account, or on a comment. Some of those twelve are likely the author refreshing. ### Do impressions matter? They matter as a diagnostic, not as a goal. Nothing else (profile visits, comments, inbound messages) can happen without impressions, and the trend over months shows whether reach is compounding. They mislead because 300 milliseconds is a very low bar: a post with 10,000 impressions and four comments was shown to many screens and ignored by nearly all of them. Pair impressions with engagement rate, members reached, the out-of-network share, and profile views or conversations started. ### How to increase impressions on LinkedIn - Earn the click on the first two lines. LinkedIn truncates posts after roughly 200 to 210 characters with a "see more" link. - Make the post readable at a glance: short paragraphs, line breaks, restrained bold emphasis. LinkedIn's composer has no formatting buttons, so bold and italic must come from Unicode characters. - Reply to every comment in the first hour, while distribution is still being decided. Comments weigh more than reactions, and your replies are comments. - Publish when your own analytics show your audience is online, not when a generic best-time chart says so. - Comment thoughtfully on other people's posts; comment impressions now count. - Post consistently (two or three times a week sustained) rather than in bursts. - On outbound links: LinkedIn has publicly disputed that links in the body kill reach, but sending people off-platform does reduce dwell time. If the link is the point of the post, keep it in the body; if it is supplementary, put it in the first comment. - Avoid engagement pods and bought impressions. They teach LinkedIn to show your posts to people with no genuine interest, which degrades reach over time. ### Diagnosing a post from its metrics - Low impressions, high engagement rate: good post, poor distribution. Post at a busier hour and reply early. - High impressions, low engagement rate: the hook travelled, the body did not deliver. - Impressions almost all in-network: you are talking to the room you already have. - Impressions far above members reached: a small group saw the post repeatedly. Nothing is broken. - Impressions fine, no profile views: readers had no reason to look you up. ## Blog: The LinkedIn "See More" Cutoff https://postformatter.com/blog/linkedin-see-more-cutoff/ Author: Artyom Shimanski, founder of Post Formatter. Published 2026-07-29. Primary source for the ranking claim: LinkedIn Engineering, "Understanding dwell time to improve LinkedIn feed ranking" (https://www.linkedin.com/blog/engineering/feed/understanding-feed-dwell-time). Short answer: LinkedIn truncates posts in the feed behind a "…more" link at roughly the first 210 characters or 3 lines on desktop, and around 140 characters in the mobile app, whichever limit runs out first. Blank lines count as full lines. LinkedIn does not publish these numbers and tests variations, so the first 140 characters are the safe zone for a hook on every device. ### How the truncation works The cutoff is a layout behavior, not a character counter: the feed clamps a post to about three lines of its column. Consequences: blank lines spend the budget (an empty line is a rendered line), desktop and mobile cut at different character counts because their columns differ, the cut lands on a word boundary just before the budget, and some emoji count as more than one encoded character. ### Why it decides reach LinkedIn measures dwell time, how long members spend with an update, and uses it in feed ranking. The decision to stop scrolling is made on the visible two or three lines alone, so the text above the cutoff controls whether any dwell happens. What belongs there: the specific over the general, tension over resolution, plain searchable words over styled text. Common budget-wasters: greetings, throat-clearing openers, labels, and a dramatic one-word line followed by a blank line. AI drafts usually open with a warm-up sentence, which is exactly what the feed displays; rewrite the first two lines by hand. ### Tools The free LinkedIn Post Preview (https://postformatter.com/linkedin-post-preview/) renders the feed card with the cutoff in place on desktop and mobile; the LinkedIn Character Counter (https://postformatter.com/linkedin-character-counter/) tracks the cutoff and every other limit live. ## Blog: How to Paste From ChatGPT to LinkedIn Without Losing Your Formatting https://postformatter.com/blog/how-to-paste-from-chatgpt-to-linkedin/ Author: Artyom Shimanski, founder of Post Formatter. Published 2026-07-31. Short answer: LinkedIn's post composer accepts only plain text, so the markdown ChatGPT writes (**bold**, ### headings, hyphen lists) pastes in as literal characters. To keep the formatting, run the text through a markdown-to-LinkedIn converter, which turns the markers into Unicode styles LinkedIn can display, or paste with Post Formatter's Smart Paste, which converts inside the composer. ### Why it breaks ChatGPT writes markdown; LinkedIn renders none of it. Both copy routes fail: ChatGPT's Copy button yields raw markdown (asterisks paste literally), while copying the rendered text puts rich text on the clipboard, which LinkedIn strips to plain text (the bold disappears). The problem is not the clipboard, it is that LinkedIn has no formatting to paste into. ### The three fixes 1. Converter: paste the markdown into the free ChatGPT to LinkedIn Formatter (https://postformatter.com/chatgpt-to-linkedin-formatter/), which converts bold, italic, bold italic, strikethrough, code, headings and lists to Unicode text. Runs in the browser. 2. Smart Paste: the Post Formatter Chrome extension converts rich text as it lands in the LinkedIn composer, covering ChatGPT, Google Docs, Word and Notion. 3. Prompting: ask for "a LinkedIn post for a plain-text composer: no markdown, no asterisks, no headings, short lines, plain hyphens or • for lists". Models still slip markers back in over long conversations. Asking ChatGPT to output Unicode bold directly is unreliable and not recommended. ### What survives the paste Bullet lists translate perfectly (• is ordinary text). Headings become bold lines. Tables do not survive, convert them to lists. Links become plain URLs. Line breaks survive and matter most. Styled words are not indexed by LinkedIn search and can trip screen readers, so style only the two or three phrases that carry the post. ## Style Generators Single-style Unicode text generators. Each converts text instantly in the browser, free and with no sign-up, and the output is real Unicode text that pastes into LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Discord and any app that accepts text. The same styles are available inside the post box via the Post Formatter Chrome extension. Shared caveat for all of them: styled Unicode is best for accents, not whole posts, it is not matched by platform search and some screen readers read it awkwardly. ### Bold Text Generator https://postformatter.com/bold-text-generator/ Social platforms have no bold button for posts. This tool swaps letters for Unicode bold characters (like 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱 and 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝) in six styles: sans-serif bold, serif bold, bold italic, bold serif italic, bold script and bold Fraktur. Sans-serif bold is the safest match for social posts; serif bold reads more editorial. Related guide: How to Bold Text on LinkedIn. ### Italic Text Generator https://postformatter.com/italic-text-generator/ There is no italics button on LinkedIn, X or Instagram. This generator replaces letters with Unicode italic characters (𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴) in four styles: sans italic, serif italic, bold italic and bold serif italic. Italics suit book and podcast titles, quoted phrases and gentle asides. ### Strikethrough Text Generator https://postformatter.com/strikethrough-text-generator/ Adds a Unicode combining long-stroke character (U+0336) after each letter, rendering a line through the text (l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶s̶). Works as plain text on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, Discord and WhatsApp. Good for price drops (was $99), visible corrections and done items. Keep struck phrases short. ### Underline Text Generator https://postformatter.com/underline-text-generator/ Bridges the letters with a Unicode combining double macron below (U+035F) and caps the run with a low line (U+0332), for one continuous underline (u͟n͟d͟e͟r͟l͟i͟n͟e̲). Platforms removed underline because it looks like a link, so use it to mark the takeaway sentence, keep runs short, and never underline actual links. ### Cursive Font Generator https://postformatter.com/cursive-font-generator/ Maps letters to the Unicode Mathematical Script alphabets (𝓵𝓲𝓴𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓲𝓼), a cursive-handwriting look that works in any text field, Instagram bios included. Script and Bold Script share their lowercase, so the two differ in their capitals, finer in the first and heavier in the second. ### Small Caps Generator https://postformatter.com/small-caps-generator/ Replaces lowercase letters with small-capital letterforms (ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛʜɪꜱ) from Unicode phonetic blocks. Clean and professional for section labels, category markers and understated headers. The letter x has no true small-cap form and stays regular. ### Bubble Text Generator https://postformatter.com/bubble-text-generator/ Uses Unicode's Enclosed Alphanumerics block to put each character in a circle (Ⓐ Ⓑ Ⓒ), plus a squared variant. Circled digits ① ② ③ make clean list markers. Best in small doses: bios, usernames, playful accents. ### Square Text Generator https://postformatter.com/square-text-generator/ Uses Unicode's Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement for uppercase letters in squares (🄰 🄱 🄲), a scoreboard-tile look popular in gaming bios and team names. Uppercase-only; lowercase input maps to the same tiles. Boxed text is wide, so keep it to a word or two on mobile. ### Fraktur Font Generator https://postformatter.com/fraktur-font-generator/ Converts text into Unicode Fraktur blackletter in regular (𝔉𝔯𝔞𝔨𝔱𝔲𝔯) and bold (𝕱𝖗𝖆𝖐𝖙𝖚𝖗). A few capitals (C, H, I, R, Z) come from the Letterlike Symbols block and look different by design. Best for single-word atmosphere, names and titles rather than sentences. ### Double-Struck Generator https://postformatter.com/double-struck-generator/ Blackboard-bold outlined letters and digits (𝕝𝕚𝕜𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤, 𝟘–𝟡). Unusually, the full digit set is encoded, so launch dates (𝟚𝟘𝟚𝟞) and discounts (𝟝𝟘% 𝕠𝕗𝕗) keep their styling where other alphabets fall back to plain numbers. ### Monospace Text Generator https://postformatter.com/monospace-text-generator/ Fixed-width typewriter/terminal characters (𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜) that bring the code aesthetic to platforms with no inline-code style. Digits and symbols are included, so version numbers (𝚟𝟸.𝟶) and shortcuts (𝙲𝚝𝚛𝚕+𝙱) keep the effect. ### Wide Text Generator https://postformatter.com/wide-text-generator/ Full-width (zenkaku) Unicode characters (Like this), the spaced-out "aesthetic"/vaporwave look. Each letter occupies a full cell, so text takes roughly double the width, keep it away from character-limited fields. On X, full-width characters count double toward the 280 limit. ### Reverse Text Generator https://postformatter.com/reverse-text-generator/ Reverses the order of characters (so "hello" becomes "olleh") and also offers a 180-degree upside-down flip. It reverses by full code point, so emoji and styled Unicode letters survive intact. Reverse changes order only, not the letterforms. ### Upside Down Text Generator https://postformatter.com/upside-down-text-generator/ Substitutes each letter with a rotated Unicode look-alike (a becomes ɐ, T becomes ⊥) then reverses the order, so the line reads correctly when the screen is flipped. Near-symmetric letters (H, I, N, O, S, X, Z) stay themselves; numbers flip too. ### Zalgo Text Generator https://postformatter.com/zalgo-text-generator/ Stacks Unicode combining marks far beyond their intended use to make text appear to melt or glitch, in three intensities (Mild, default, Chaos). Output is deterministic: the same input always gives the same result. Some platforms trim heavy stacks (LinkedIn), others render fully (Discord, X), which is why the Mild level exists. ## Pricing https://postformatter.com/pricing/ One free tier, one Pro tier. Post Formatter is a free Chrome extension and a growing kit of web tools that put bold, italic and 30+ Unicode styles right where you write, on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube and Pinterest. At a glance: 30+ text styles, 7 platforms, 4.9 rating on the Chrome Web Store, $0 to start. Who's behind it: Post Formatter is made by Artyom Shimanski, an entrepreneur and software developer with 15+ years of building for the web (https://shimanski.dev/, https://www.linkedin.com/in/artyom-shimanski/). It is one of eight products he has shipped, alongside tools like AI Edit, FixMeBot and Blurr, and it is independent: no VC, feedback goes straight to the maker's inbox. Why it exists: Post Formatter started in 2024 as a personal itch. Social platforms render every post in one plain typeface, so bolding a LinkedIn hook meant jumping to a separate Unicode converter and pasting text back and forth. Post Formatter closes that gap: select your text, pick a style, and it becomes genuine Unicode characters that carry your formatting into any composer. Milestones: 2024, the extension begins as a side project. March 2026, postformatter.com goes live with free web tools (formatters, generators, character counter, nothing to install). 2026, tools and guides localized into 11 languages. Today: 30+ styles across 7 platforms, rated 4.9 on the Chrome Web Store. Two ways to format faster. The Chrome extension: an inline toolbar inside the composer (select text, click a style, done), plus a live post preview for 5 networks, drafts with folders and tags, a character counter, and optional AI proofreading and auto-styling. The free web tools: copy-and-paste generators and utilities you can use without installing anything, from a full text formatter to per-style font generators and a character counter. Principles the product ships by: - Free where it counts: bold, italic, strikethrough, underline and case are free forever, no account. Pro is optional and adds AI plus 20+ premium styles. - Private by design: the extension runs in your browser. AI uses your own key with zero markup and requests go straight to the provider. Nothing to hide, nothing to sell. - Renders everywhere: every style is real Unicode, not an image or HTML, so your formatting looks identical on iOS, Android, desktop and every app that accepts text. ## Contact & Support https://postformatter.com/contact/ Questions, bug reports, feature ideas or billing help.
